Bryce Petty said he should be drafted ahead of Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota in the 2015 NFL Draft, according to Newsday.
"“I feel like I’m No. 1. I really do,” he said Wednesday after the South team’s practice for Saturday’s Senior Bowl. “That’s not a cocky thing, it’s not an arrogant thing. It’s just me being confident in what I do and understanding that I have a learning curve [to adjust to].”“But at the same time, I’m really like a little kid in a candy store. I love the idea of playing chess instead of checkers, which is what we’ve been playing in college. So beating you with my mind and my arm is an aspect that I haven’t had the opportunity to do, so I’d love it.”"
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Safety Elier Hardy is transferring after missing the first eight games this past season due to a possible academic dishonesty investigation, according to a tweet from Irish Illustrated’s Pete Sampson.
South Carolina Gamecocks starting offensive lineman Brandon Shell will miss spring practice, according to a report on www.gogamecocks.com.
"Shell played right tackle and started every game for the Gamecocks (7-6). He had surgery earlier this month, according to athletic spokesman Steve Fink. Shell is expected to be back in time for summer workouts and the season.Shell is a 6-foot-6, 333-pound junior who had the chance to jump to the NFL, yet chose to finish his senior season at South Carolina. He has started 36 of the past 39 games, including every contest the past two seasons."
Iowa State Cyclones dismissed one player, had another player arrested, and lost three players to transfer on Friday, according to The Des Moines Register.
"Wide receiver P.J. Harris was charged Thursday with aggravated domestic assault/strangulation. Harris, according to Iowa State spokesperson Mike Green, had already been kicked off the team Jan. 13.Harris’ dismissal had not been acknowledged before Friday morning. It was the first in a series of announcements regarding personnel moves. Coach Paul Rhoads said in a prepared statement that safety T.J. Mutcherson had been dismissed from the team and three players planned to find new schools."
Boston College Eagles Offensive Coordinator Ryan Day is leaving to become the Quarterbacks Coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, according to www.philadelphiaeagles.com.
"The 35-year-old Day replaces Bill Musgrave, who became the offensive coordinator of the Oakland Raiders.Day joins the Eagles after a two-year stint as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach of Boston College. That school posted consecutive seven-win seasons from 2013-2014. Day also held stints at Boston College from 2007-11 as wide receivers coach and from 2003-04 as a graduate assistant on offense."
Florida Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Line Coach Brad Lawing has been hired by Florida State to replace Sal Sunseri as the school’s new defensive ends coach, according to Warchant.com.
"Before his two years at Florida, where the Gators boasted two top 15 defenses, Lawing coached the defensive line at South Carolina under Steve Spurrier from 2006-12.During his final season with the Gamecocks, USC set a school record with 43 sacks. That defense was led by Jadeveon Clowney, a unanimous first-team All-American after recording a school record 23.5 tackles for loss and a school record 13.0 sacks."
