Super Bowls

Super Bowl XXIV, 1989-90 (Defeated Denver Broncos 55-10)

Super Bowl XXIX, 1994-95 (Defeated San Diego Chargers 49-26)

A legendary coach by all standards who was a Bill Walsh disciple and oversaw the most difficult transition in NFL history from Joe Montana to Steve Young, winning a Super Bowl with both quarterbacks, once coached college.

True, it was not at the major level, but George Seifert had a career at Westminster and Cornell. And both were stints to forget. Seifert was hired at Westminster College at age 25 and went 3-3. Then he became an assistant at the major level of college football.

But 10 years later, Seifert had a disastrous two-year run at Cornell, going 3-15 and getting fired. It would be another 13 years before he became a head coach again, and that was with San Francisco. That’s where the two Super Bowls came. Doesn’t that serve as proof that your success depends on your situation in pro ball? Well, it should.
