Texas Longhorns Pickup 4 Star Cornerbacks Holton Hill and Kris Boyd

With National Signing Day less than a week away, the Texas Longhorns made a significant leap in the recruiting wars of Texas by picking up 4 Star blue chippers at cornerback Holton Hill and Kris Boyd. Both chose Texas after being neck and neck with Texas A&M on the recruiting front. It seemed dim from the Longhorns perspective after losing 5 Star Quarterback Kyler Murray to the Aggies just a few days ago, but the Horns can hang their hat on these two in the near future as both Hill and Boyd will see immediate playing time with the loss of Quandre Diggs and Mykkele Thompson. Shutdown Corners U? DBU? It’s got a nice ring to it.

At 6’2″ 184 pounds, Holton ‘Hollywood’ Hill had 11 interceptions for Lamar High School in Houston last year. Couple that with the leaping ability of a quality wide out and you won’t find a better corner out there that Texas needs, with the exception of Kris Boyd. Watching the video below you’ll see some of the explosive strides that comes with Hill, especially on the return game, like a young Randy Moss.

Kris Boyd is listed at 6’0″ 182 pounds and pretty much let the Horn out of the bag early on in last year’s State Championship game when he was seen flashing the Hook ’em Texas sign along with his brother Demarco Boyd, himself a lauded recruit for 2016.

It was down to two schools for Boyd, A&M and Texas, with a Baylor mix thrown in. All along Texas A&M had set their sights on 5 Star Corner Kendall Sheffield, making way for Texas to come in and swoop Boyd up. When Sheffield committed to Alabama however, the Aggies tried to circle back to Kris Boyd but by all accounts he was headed to Austin. Defensive Back U? Time will most certainly tell since Texas hasn’t had a true shutdown defensive backfield that has lived up to the hype in quite some time, but it sure does seem like they’re on the right road with these two…
