5. TCU Horned Frogs
Rivals Class Rank: No. 34
This one is not too big of a deal because the TCU Horned Frogs never expect to recruit great anyway under Gary Patterson. He gets the guys to fit his system, as he has always done.
But with unprecedented hype surrounding the program coming off such a great season and having so much returning talent combined with the fact that these guys were in the running for quite a few elite players this time, this National Signing Day was disastrous.
There were two key losses for the Horned Frogs. Wide Receiver JF Thomas switched his commitment from Texas Tech to TCU, which was a huge loss, and defensive tackle Daylon Mack chose Texas A&M over the Horned Frogs, which was also a big loss.
We understand that TCU is a small school and has to win with a more selective recruiting process and great coaching, but given the success the school just came off of and the hype surrounding it, while located in Texas, it seemed like a strong possibility they could nail a few more great recruits. Heck, maybe they could become Texas’s version of the Miami Hurricanes.
But for now, it appears only great coaching and overachievers, not great recruiting, will have this school winning games, making it that much harder.
