12. Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Wake Forest and Coach Dave Clawson did a decent job with their recruiting class settling on adding players that fit specific roles for their team, rather than swinging for the fences and trying to bring in stud recruits. The Demon Deacons however did end up with a very good quarterback class headlined by Kyle Kearns. Kearns is a California kid who is a true pocket passer with slightly below average height for the position (6’2”) and is just 188 lbs.

Despite the slight build Kearns is tough kid who can take hits and should immediately push for the starting job after John Wolford threw more interceptions than touchdowns last year. Kearns has a big arm and is pretty accurate, which should make him the favorite for the position if Coach Clawson deems he has put on enough weight to handle the rigors of an entire college football season and the brunt of some powerful defensive lines.

Wake also pulled in speedy cornerback Dionte Austin who should compete for the starting corner position as well as potentially handling some punt and kick return duties, as his speed is a game changer. In addition to Austin Clawson pulled in game changing tight end Bowman Archibald, who is 6’6” tall and 240lbs already. He should become a favorite of whoever starts and destroy the middle of the field.

Overall Wake did very well for itself, but did miss on hometown stud running back Bryce Love, who went to Stanford. Only time will tell if that hurts them in the long run though.
