Oklahoma Sooners

The day didn’t start off the greatest for the Sooners, with a hope that Oklahoma City native Offensive Guard Joshua Wariboko would sign with them. He instead chose UCLA, but that didn’t mean the Sooners were over just yet.

With no 5 star commits, OU did rack up some 4 star talent on the defensive side of the ball with Ricky DeBerry from Mechanicsville, Virginia and Cornerback P.J. Mbanasor from Pflugerville Texas. Also added to the Defensive Line were 4 star DT Neville Gallimore and Marquise Overton.

On the offensive side, the Sooners have always had a decent pull of wide receivers but had a hard time going to anybody but Sterling Shepard in 2014. They fulfilled their need at the wide receiver position with commitments from DeDe Westbrook and Dahu Green.

All in all not bad but definitely not Bob Stoops greatest Signing Day class. This group will require a good bit of coaching to stay elite, and it’s not like Stoops can’t do that, but inconsistency over the past five years has been a red flag for the program.

The first thing Stoops has to be able to do is bring out the best in the guys he recruits and have them prepared and motivated on a weekly basis. Maybe not focusing so much on media hype will help that.

But overall, this is a good class and something he can work with.
