12. Oregon State Beavers

Rivals Class Rank: No. 70

This is an absolutely terrible start for Gary Andersen at Oregon State. He’s not at Wisconsin, where you can win with unheralded talent.

And even at Wisconsin, there were Top 40 recruiting classes that he was not able to win with as much as his predecessor. Sure, this was his first year at Oregon State, but a No. 70 ranked class for any Power Five school is terrible no matter how you slice it.

Andersen wants to institute his form of a spread offense and only found a 2-star quarterback in this class, Seth Collins. Talk about a failure. His best recruit is speedster running back Paul Lucas, and there are athletes Tuli Wily-Matagi, Shawn Wilson, and Jay Irvine who will fit in with the system.

So Andersen at least found fits for what he wants to do. But it is not going to come nearly as close as it needs to be for the Beavers to be competing in the Pac-12, even the Pac-12 North, and it certainly won’t come close to competing in state with Oregon.

Things have to get better in the future.
