5. Kelly Bryant, Clemson, 6’4” 204 lbs

At number five is Kelly Bryant who is a lock to be the backup quarterback with stud quarterback Deshaun Watson returning for the Tigers. However Bryant could see some action is Swinney deems Bryant worthy of the back up job, or Bryant could get a red shirt this year with an eye on development for the future.

Bryant certainly looks the part of a quarterback as he has a big frame that is built pretty well, but could still use more muscle and weight to fully withstand the hits he will take. Bryant has a very strong arm and can throw the ball pretty far, but struggles with deep ball accuracy especially. The short to intermediate throws also give Bryant some accuracy trouble as he has problems fitting the ball into tight windows as of now, and can get messed up with his footwork at times leading to these problems.

However Bryant excels with the ball in his hands having very good scrambling ability and the skill to make people miss in the open field. Bryant possesses good game speed, although only tested at running a 4.87 in the 40, but should improve that with proper training.

Bryant has some good potential and has the arm to try and make it at quarterback, but needs a lot of work and polish. If Bryant cannot clean up his mechanics and footwork to be able to utilize the big arm he has, he would be an excellent fit at wide receiver or a move tight end.
