Steve Spurrier finally joined Twitter on Monday and the Gamecocks head football coach got a warm welcome from his old home, the Florida Gators.
It is a quiet time of the year for college football fans with spring practice yet to fully get underway across the country, so you can understand the enthusiasm behind the news of the day in the form of South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier joining Twitter.

The move was long overdue for the Head Ball Coach who was one of two SEC head coaches who weren’t on Twitter, Alabama’s Nick Saban is the only one to abstain from social media.
In his Hall of Fame career, Spurrier has built a reputation as one of the best — if not the best — quotes in college football. Heck, in the world of amateur or professional sports!
So there was much rejoicing and he received a warm welcome from his old home where he won a Heisman Trophy as a quarterback and later a national title with the Florida Gators.

Spurrier was a two-time All-American at Florida during his playing career from 1963-1966 and returned to Gainesville for his first coaching gig after a 10-year professional playing career. He was the Gators quarterbacks coach in 1978 and was named the head coach at Florida in 1990 where he stayed until 2001.
He won the national championship in 1997 after losing the title in 1996 and won six SEC championships for Florida during his time on the sidelines. He compiled a 122-27-1 record with the Gators.
