Ranking the Top 10 college football programs on the verge of becoming powerhouse programs.
Last week’s post about the top five declining college football programs drew lots of spirited debates, as they should have. But how about some good news instead of the doom and gloom?
While there are programs that seem to be falling off the edge, a few others are clearly on the verge of returning to, or getting their first taste of glory.

For some of them, it has come along for a while. Others just began to show it at the end of last year. Either way, nothing is more exciting than knowing the program is full of potential and on the rise.
The Top 10 programs on the rise do not necessarily involve the Top 10 teams for next year, nor do they include teams that have been traditional powerhouse programs the past few years. These teams could have barely made a bowl game this year and finished off the season unranked. It’s all about from where they were to where they are going.
This post is set to focus on teams who have all the pieces in place to become powerhouse programs but are not there just yet.
Let’s take a look at those programs we know are on the rise.
