As a man in his late 50s approaching 60, Doc Holliday seems like an odd guy to be so high on this list. But he did not get his first head coaching job until 2010 at Marshall, and in five years he has taken the Thundering Herd to unprecedented heights.

Holliday has the program back to the days of where it was when Bob Pruitt was head coach, and even if he is approaching 60 in the coming years, he is coming off a 13-1 season and has the energy of a guy in his early 40s.

Holliday’s track record demands that he get a chance to coach at a higher level if he has another season like the one he just had. That seems unlikely with quarterback Rakeem Cato gone, but he still has 11 starters back and a decent foundation.

And there is a chance that the 2016 season could mirror this one. At that point, even at 58, somebody will want to take a shot on him at a very high level.
