Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs is a rising star in the SEC and he also happens to be a genius.
Josh Dobbs is majoring in aerospace engineering and could have a career at NASA if this whole football thing doesn’t work, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to hear Dobbs is pretty good at math.

The Vols rising junior quarterback was challenged to name 45 digits in the mathematical constant Pi on National Pi Day, March 14 or 3-14. When we were in middle school and trying to find the area of a circle we knew at least two because we could rattle off 3.14 but anything after that would be pure guesses, but Dobbs is the real deal with a brain as big as his game.
Last year, Dobbs was challenged to name 25 digits and successfully named 28 so this year the reporter upped the ante and said if he can name 45, then he can throw a pie in her face, but if he wasn’t, then the pie got to be thrown in his face.
Dobbs didn’t end up with any pie on his face.
Dobbs went 4-1 as Tennessee’s starting quarterback in 2014 and averaged 279 yards of offense per game and was responsible for a combined 17 touchdowns.
He was named the MVP of the Taxslayer Gator Bowl after accounting for 205 yards of total offense and three touchdowns in the 45-21 win.
Dobbs also became the first Tennessee quarterback to throw for 300 yards and rush for 100 yards in the comeback win at South Carolina. He passed for 301 yards and set the rushing record for a Tennessee quarterback with 166 yards.
