Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell is getting his rhythm back after suffering a broken leg and dislocated ankle.

Laquon Treadwell came to Ole Miss as the No. 1 wide receiver in the nation and was part of the signature class for Hugh Freeze in 2013 that also brought Robert Nkemdiche, Laremy Tunsil and Tony Conner to the Rebels.

After a promising freshman season where he showed the ability to be a sure-handed possession receiver he was in line to be the Rebels leading receiver after Donte Moncrief declared early for the NFL Draft. Treadwell was on his way to a super sophomore season with 48 receptions for 632 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games and was in the midst of his best game of his career when disaster struck.

Treadwell caught 10 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown and was about to score his second to win the game for Ole Miss when he suffered a broken leg and dislocated ankle that was expected to sideline him for four months in the crushing defeat to Auburn.

He is running routes and trying to get over the mental hurdle of the injury but admits he is knocking the rust off and estimates he’ll have his rhythm back in a couple of weeks.

“It’s getting better every day,” Treadwell said. “I’m out there with my teammates, getting my rhythm. I don’t think it’s going to go on any longer. I’ll probably get my rhythm back in a couple of weeks.”

He is expected to be ready to go when Ole Miss opens fall camp but as spring practice is underway he’s just watching the quarterback competition unfold as he awaits to find out who will be feeding him the ball this fall.

Bo Wallace is gone and JUCO transfer Chad Kelly is believed to be the front-runner for the job with Devante Kincade and Ryan Buchanan also competing for the right to throw to arguably the best receiver in the SEC.
