Defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor will not be reinstated at Alabama after the school expelled him on Thursday.

One day after his accuser recanted her story, Jonathan Taylor will not re rejoining the Alabama Crimson Tide and has been expelled from the university.

Taylor was dismissed from the team earlier this week after he was arrested on domestic violence charges, the second time he’s been arrested for that charge in the last year. Head coach Nick Saban didn’t completely close the door on Taylor making a return when he addressed the media earlier in the week, but the book has been closed with his expulsion from the university and the sad chapter of Taylor at Alabama and in the SEC is closed.

He was dismissed from Georgia last year after he was arrested for domestic abuse when he reportedly choked and punched his then-girlfriend with a closed fist. He played at junior college last season and picked Alabama over other offers from SEC and FBS schools to resume his playing career.

During his time at Alabama, Saban said Taylor went through and completed psychological counseling as they hoped to rehabilitate the young man and give him a second chance at playing football. When his accuser recanted her story there was the question if the dismissal would be overturned.

If you thought he never should have been at Alabama in the first place and his previous runs-in with the law were too much for you to stomach, you can breathe easy knowing he is no longer a part of your favorite football program.

And I would have to think that Saban and Alabama will be hesitant to roll the dice on another player with a similar background in the future because of this and other Alabama players who have been arrested and cast a negative light on one of the best programs in the nation.
