Back on when I posted the last rankings right after the college football season ended in January, I thought the conference was shaping up to a three team race of Florida State and Clemson in the Atlantic Division, and Georgia Tech all to itself in the Coastal Division. However after reviewing the recruits coming in to the year, the graduates and defections from all the teams and projecting the replacements for those defections, I know see the ACC as a relatively deep conference.
There are certainly some teams who could surprise and there are some good coaches who will overachieve with their talent.
More from ACC
- ACC Power Rankings: Can #4 FSU overthrow Clemson at Death Valley East?
- College Football Playoff: Projected top 4 after Week 3
- Biggest winners and losers from College Football Week 3
- #21 Duke Football: 3 takeaways from home against Northwestern
- Wake Forest football: 3 takeaways from comeback win at Old Dominion
With that being said there are certainly some teams that even after all of the moves from different rosters will not challenge anyone this upcoming season. Overall in the ACC I see seven contenders for their respective divisions and three legit contenders for the college football playoffs.
This may be the year the ACC finally steps to the plate and has one of the better conferences in the country, putting to bed all the notion it is not a good football conference.
Some of these ACC football rankings may surprise and some people may be mad with these rankings with their respective teams in mind, so proceed at your own risk.
