Cody Kessler explains why he committed to USC (Video)
USC was fortunate to have Cody Kessler bypass the NFL Draft and return to the Trojans, but wait until you hear what made him choose USC in the first place.
The USC Trojans are going to be a popular pick to win the Pac-12 in 2015 and perhaps even win the national title, but those lofty expectations wouldn’t exist without quarterback Cody Kessler.

After a solid sophomore campaign when he threw 20 touchdowns and threw for 2,968 yards in 2013, Kessler developed into one of the nation’s top signal-callers in 2014 with 3,826 yards, 39 touchdowns and only five interceptions.
The conference known for developing quarterbacks has the next great one in Kessler who has kept former five-star recruit Max Browne on the bench and has USC poised to crack the top-five in the preseason polls.
But just think how different things would have been if not for one phone call.
The Centennial high school product was all set to head north to play for the Washington Huskies before he got a timely phone call from USC quarterback coach and offensive coordinator, Clay Helton.
Watch the below as Kessler tells the story in his own words that made him change his mind from Washington to USC.
Just imagine if Helton waited a few minutes to make that phone call to Kessler. If Kessler commits to Washington, would he have followed Steve Sarkisian to USC when he was named the head coach? Would Max Browne be the USC starter? Would Sarkisian still be at Washington? Is Chris Petersen still at Boise State?
Good think Kessler picked the phone up and didn’t let it go to voicemail.
