4. Recruiting Fallout

Spring games are beneficial to programs in three ways: player development, fan engagement, and recruiting. The Gators will have eight prospects attending their spring game, one of which is key prospect Sam Bruce.

Bruce is a four-star wide receiver currently committed to the University of Miami, but he will be in attendance on Saturday when the Gators take the practice field. Although he is only 5’8”, Bruce is an explosive player who could play a Percy Harvin-type role for the Gators.

It would also be a nice momentum swing for Florida recruiting. McElwain has done a nice job recruiting since taking over as head coach, but stealing Bruce from Miami would make a statement to other schools in the Sunshine State.

The spring game could help secure good recruits for the 2016 class and get ahead in the 2017 class. This is one of the more underrated storylines this weekend.
