He is the younger brother of Notre Dame senior defensive lineman Romeo Okwara and had 90 tackles and 10 sacks last year as a junior. His took a visit to South Bend to see the Notre Dame campus at the end of March where they emerged as his favorites.
“Just everything I went through the whole weekend,” said Okwara to 247Sports’ Ryan Bartow on wht Notre Dame became his leader after the trip. “The academics, alumni, the stadium, football staff and everything my brother Romeo has gone through up there.”
Notre Dame is getting a player who can get after the quarterback and whether that’s with his hand in the dirt as a defensive end or as an outside linebacker who rushes the quarterback from a two-point stance, the Fighting Irish landed a player with the instincts and the ability to disrupt plays in the backfield and take the quarterback down.
