1. Is Michael Brewer the answer at quarterback?

I figured I would lead off with this one right off the bat considering I mentioned it in the first slide. I also believe that most people are checking on this exact story line as it is the biggest question on this team now. Brewer had a decent year last year throwing 18 touchdowns, but the 15 interceptions bring his overall play down a few notches.

There is also the fact that Brewer was an upperclassmen and for an upperclassmen to turn the ball over that much is very surprising. When that happens the quarterback rarely gets a second chance at the starting job, let alone is the favorite for it.

Brewer may be the favorite for the job, but there is an incoming freshman named Dwayne Lawson who has all the tools to be a future NFL quarterback. Lawson is clearly the future for the Hokies, but if he is ready is the real question.

This spring game will show if Brewer makes better decisions and has grown into the role, while developing a good relationship with his receivers. If Brewer struggles or doesn’t look good there will be a lot of noise to turn the team over to the younger Lawson, provided he doesn’t look inexperienced and make mistakes as well.
