How much of an issue will turnovers be going forward?

Georgia Tech went 11-3 last year but easily could have gone undefeated. That’s right. We said undefeated.

In their three losses, they lost the mistake battle to the other team, which ultimately ended up being the difference.

So in this spring game, how much the Yellow Jackets cut down on mistakes will be a big thing to watch out for. Can they move the ball without making drive-killing mistakes?

The numbers say they were not so bad on them last year, but it was crucial mistakes at bad times that cost them in all three losses.

That includes Florida State. During the regular season, turnovers caused both losses for the Yellow Jackets. They out-gained Duke in total yards 483 to 373 but lost 31-25 because they committed three turnovers while Duke committed none. Their very next game against North Carolina, they won the yardage battle 611 to 579. While both committed the same number of turnovers, they had more penalties.

And they lost 37-35 to the Seminoles while losing the turnover battle.

Simply put, the Yellow Jackets can say they were three mistakes away from an undefeated year. How many mistakes they make in the spring game will be an indicator of what this year will be like.
