As the Louisville Cardinals get set for their second season in Bobby Petrino’s return, here are the five things to watch from their spring game.

Here we are in Bobby Petrino’s second year in his second stint with the Louisville Cardinals. The football program is already ahead of schedule compared to where it would have been expected to be after a 9-4 record last year.

However, as the Cardinals get set to play their spring game on Friday night, there are still plenty of key questions that need to be answered.

More from ACC

Many crucial positions are still open, and Petrino has to replace more starters than he probably wishes he had to going into his second year.

The quarterback battle is jumbled and as wide open as ever, particularly when you consider that there are guys added into the mix in addition to the two starters from last year returning.

Other offensive positions are open, and the defensive unit, which was the catalyst for the team last year, also has holes to fill.

With recruiting starting to take shape, the Cardinals appear poised to become an elite team in the ACC as long as the right coaching stays in place.

But they need to address a few issues first. Here are the five things to watch out for at Louisville’s spring game Friday night at 7 p.m.
