What does the secondary look like in comparison to last year?

The Louisville Cardinals secondary might have been the best in the country last year, and Gerod Holliman was probably the best defensive back in all of college football. But every starter from the unit is gone.

Holliman was obviously leaving, and James Sample, Terell Floyd, and Charles Gaines are also gone. So, with so much to replace, who is going to step up in the secondary?

And how will it look on Friday with so many new faces?

Well, Georgia transfer Shaq Wiggins is in the mix but has not played this spring. So that leaves the field even more wide open.

Sophomore Trumaine Washington has made some noise this spring, and so has sophomore De’Eric Culver. Freshman Jaire Alexander also enrolled early and has been exciting for coaches to watch this spring.

Sophomores Chucky Williams and Zykiesis Cannon are options at safety, and while senior Jermaine Reve will be in the mix, he is also out this spring. Finally, don’t count out another Georgia transfer, Josh Harvey-Clemons, who has a 6’5″ 230 pound build. This physical freak in the secondary is going to make noise as well.

Seeing who performs well on Friday in this unit will be a big deal, but how they play together and who plays well together is going to be the main thing to watch.
