Alabama takes the field for the first time this year on Saturday for the annual A-Day scrimmage.

The third time is the charm.

At least that is what Alabama fans will be hoping  to hear in the upcoming season. Saban’s dynasty seems to be losing steam. It’s been two long years since Alabama claimed the last of the three titles won under Saban. It does not help that the team has come close both times only to lose to underdogs in one of the final games.

More from Alabama Crimson Tide

Before the road to sixteen can begin (again) Alabama needs to replace several key starters. Blake Sims is gone. All-American Amari Cooper is taking his highlight-reel talent to the next level. Joining those two are T.J. Yeldon and defensive leader Landon Collins, but the list of key players that Alabama lost could keep going.

Luckily for Alabama fans, the team brought back the only person that matters: head coach, Nick Saban. With Saban on the sidelines the Tide will remain a contender for the national title no matter how many key players the team is forced to replace.

This year could be an important one for Saban’s dynasty. Despite the losses, offensive coordinator, Lane Kiffin, should be able to get more out of Alabama’s offense in year two; but this could also be Kiffin’s last year at Alabama. If Alabama’s offense delivers then another program might tempt him away with a head coaching position.

The public’s first chance to see the Crimson Tide is at Saturday’s annual A-Day game. It is unlikely that Saban or for that matter Kiffin, will tip their hands too much. However, when young guys debut for Alabama it is exciting, because today’s unknowns could be national champions in just a few months.

Here are the top five storylines I’ll be watching for at Saturday’s spring game.
