Ohio State Buckeyes set national spring game attendance record

99,391 showed up to see the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes in their spring game on Saturday afternoon and set a new spring game record.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have one of the largest campuses in the country, one of the most rapid fan bases and are the defending national champions so when you add all that up, you get a huge turnout for the team’s spring game.

And when tickets are only $5, you can expect an environment that will resemble a Saturday afternoon in September.

Fans packed the Shoe on Saturday with 99,381 packing the stadium to see their team in action (albeit a spring game) for the first time since defeating Oregon in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game and for the last time until the Sept 7 opener at Virginia Tech.

The fans in attendance didn’t see the best from quarterback Cardale Jones, however. With Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett not playing in the game as they recover from injury, he had an opportunity to take a giant step toward securing the job, but was only 19-of-42 passing.

Jones did throw for two touchdowns and more than 300 yards courtesy of a few long passes, but you’d like to see him complete at least half of his passes.
