Do not count this out as a crazy idea. Braxton Miller just might be smart enough to head to his school’s up north rival and take the reigns at quarterback.

Jim Harbaugh’s first year at Michigan could be shaping up to be a disaster. The cupboard is empty, the program is in disarray, and there is no quarterback to take the job.

Well, almost no quarterback.

A few guys are options, and Iowa transfer Jake Rudock is certainly in the mix now, but Miller’s arrival would change everything. He is more than talented enough to take the starting job at ease, even in Harbaugh’s system.

Yes, he has mostly thrived in the spread, but at the NFL and college levels Harbaugh has shown an amazing ability to adapt to his quarterbacks, most notably what he was able to do with Colin Kaepernick, and as a quarterbacks coach under Bill Callahan, he has plenty of experience implementing west coast formations and horizontal passing attacks that come with the spread.

Miller would have no trouble fitting into what Harbaugh would want him to do, and although it is a sensitive situation if he goes to his rival, nobody could really begrudge him for doing that if it is for wanting to play.

But whether or not he wants to play for an immediate contender or a team that is rebuilding but could have a surprisingly good season is the question. If the former is true, Michigan is not the place for him.
