With Philadelphia Eagles Coach Chip Kelly’s signing of Tim Tebow and talk of drafting Marcus Mariota, we examine both college careers to see who’s better.

In the eyes of many, this should not even be a question one way or the other. Tim Tebow supporters will bring up the fact that he has already succeeded in the NFL.

Marcus Mariota supporters will point out that it was not really success attributed to him and Mariota is the one with the better arm who could fit in with a pro-style offense better.

Who’s right?

The best way to truly determine that is look at their college careers. Tebow and Mariota both were very successful college quarterbacks in similar systems who won Heisman trophies, and what you do at the college level should count for something.

It would seem weird to tie these two together, but right now there is a raging debate going on that has not started yet. Should Chip Kelly go with Tim Tebow as the Philadelphia Eagles starter this Fall, or should he trade up to draft Marcus Mariota to run his spread?

This, of course, assumes that Sam Bradford will get hurt and Mark Sanchez will crumble.

And if that happens, it might come down to these two guys. Which should Kelly prepare for to use?

Tebow has the advantage of winning in the NFL but also the disadvantage of putting up terrible stats while doing it in an offense he never got to fully run at Denver.

As a result, Kelly should base it off college success.

So here we have compiled a list of five things to measure Mariota and Tebow by at the college level to determine who is better.

Afterward, perhaps Kelly will be able to make a decision.
