Michigan State received the commitment from four-star receiver Justin Layne (Cleveland, OH. Benedictine), one day after they landed a verbal pledge from three-star running back Abdul Adams.
Layne is the nation’s No. 149 overall recruit, the No. 28 wide receiver and the No. 9 recruit in the state of Ohio, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The 6-3, 180-pound Layne had offers from Florida, Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State, among others. He is also a standout combo guard for the school’s basketball team.
With God's guidance, I am officially committing to Michigan State University!

Tide began to swing in favor of the Spartans in the last month after a pair of visits on March 28 and April 7 before visiting East Lansing for the spring game on Saturday afternoon where he got the convincing he needed to give his verbal.
Layne is the sixth commitment for the 2016 class and the second four-star receiver, joining 6-3 Cameron Chambers and now the Spartans own the nation’s No. 26 class overall and the No. 4 class in the Big Ten.
It is very early in the process but to have a pair of 6-3 receivers in Layne and Chambers headlining the class that should attract some good quarterback talent to consider Michigan State, especially with Connor Cook on the way out after this year and a potential first-round pick in next year’s draft.
