player. 15.
While the addition of Randy Gregory would help the New Orleans Saints begin to improve their atrocious defense, they also need to beef up their offensive line. Often times, Drew Brees has maybe half a second to get rid of the ball.

The line is simply old and washed up. It’s time for some new blood, and what better place to look for offensive linemen than Wisconsin. Rob Havenstein had a huge role in blocking for Melvin Gordon as he racked up amazing stats last year, and he also did his part in helping Joel Stave and Tanner McEvoy not look even worse at quarterback.

His run blocking is no question, and when it comes to pass blocking, McEvoy and Stave were already bad and had nobody to throw to. Together they were only sacked a combined 13 times with those facts. What does that mean? It means that Havenstein can do it all.

Because his upside is not much given his lack of athleticism, there is lots of talk about not taking ghim in the first round. But you know exactly what you’re getting with him: a very solid and reliable run blocker and pass blocker.

It’s a sure bet he’ll be good at 6’7″ 321 pounds based on what he did at Wisconsin, and it’s also a pretty sure bet he won’t be great. But good is still lightyears ahead of where New Orleans was last year on the line. And Brees doesn’t need great.

This is a perfect late round pick.
. Offensive Tackle. Wisconsin Badgers. Rob Havenstein. 31
