BAD PICK

54.
Chip Kelly is at it again, going with unconventional picks. This time, he comes across as just somebody trying to prove he is smarter than everybody else.

Nelson Agholor was likely to be available in the second round. The only reason you would waste your first round pick on him is to try to steal headlines. This is not a can’t-miss receiver.

At 6’0″ 198 pounds, he is a possession guy, which is good for Kelly’s offense, but you can find that anywhere. Why look for it so early? Last year, Agholor racked up more than 1,300 yards in a situation with a very advanced offense, a very accurate quarterback throwing him the ball helped out by a great running game, and going up against a bunch of questionable defenses.

He racked up his biggest stats against Colorado, Washington State, Cal, and Notre Dame. All four of those teams had terrible defenses, and the only other game in which he had more than 100 yards was against Utah, who had a rush defense but just a regular pass defense.

Racking up stats against bad teams to improve your draft stock is not enough to belong in the first round as a pick, and this is one of many questionable Kelly decisions this offseason.
. WR (USC Trojans). Round 1, Pick 20 (Philadelphia Eagles). Nelson Agholor. 3. player
