BAD PICK

2. player. 45.
I said before the draft and am sticking with it that the only team for which Shane Ray would be successful was the Houston Texans. Ray is an undersized situational lineman, and he only would have worked out playing with the Texans because of how loaded they are on the line and how much free reign they have.

The Denver Broncos are a nice consolation with a good collection of rushers, but they are not going to be enough. Ray comes from Gary Pinkel’s system with the Missouri Tigers that helps ‘tweener players rack up lots of stats, and he is just a slightly better version of Michael Sam.

He’s too big and slow for linebacker and too small for a defensive lineman. The only thing that would have helped him be successful in the NFL is a massive defensive line to give him free reign to rush the quarterback.

That is not going to happen in Denver. The only plus side is that John Elway has found major steals and learned how to plug them in since he has taken over the Broncos. But this might be a hard one to pull off.
. DE (Missouri Tigers). Round 1, Pick 23. Shane Ray
