Tenpenny announced the move via his private Instagram account with a “Let’s go Tenpenny” sign with a caption of “Next stop! #thenewera #unlv #rebels”

He came to Alabama as one of four running backs in the 2013 class along with Derrick Henry, Alvin Kamara and Tyren Jones, but only Henry remains with the Crimson Tide.

Tenpenny was a four-star recruit out of North Little Rock, Ark. and the nation’s No. 7 running back recruit according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

He will have to sit out the 2015 season as per NCAA transfer rules but when he’s eligible in 2016 he should have a clear path to the starting job without the likes of Henry, T.J. Yeldon and Kenyan Drake pushing him down the depth chart.

Carries were tough to come by for Tenpenny at Alabama where he had just 26 carries in 12 games last year, rushing for 136 yards as a sophomore.

Tenpenny will have two years of eligibility remaining and should help Sanchez transition from a high school coach where he excelled at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas to the college game.
