Mark Richt: R2-D2

No matter what happens on the Star Wars films, R2-D2 was there for it all. He saw the Old Republic fall, witnessed first-hand Anakin Skywalker’s demise into Darth Vader, and was strongly affiliated with every major character in the Star Wars universe.

At different points, he forged strong bonds with Anakin, Queen Amidala, Princess Leia, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, and of course, C-3PO.

Mark Richt has been the same way. He has forged coaching relationships with the best in the business during his 14 years with the Georgia Bulldogs and is to be respected for that. He witnessed it all in the SEC.

This connection is tentative, though. Just like R2 was a part of it all, Richt has to finish the job to be a part of it all. He needs to win a national championship. We can compare him to R2 because while Richt has no national title, R2 is not force-sensitive.

But R2 does deserve some more respect than that. So Richt needs a title to dignify this connection.

However, everything else is good enough to put these guys in the same sentence, including the respect they commanded in their respective fields.
