Urban Meyer undergoes emergency appendectomy
Urban Meyer underwent emergency surgery but the Ohio State head coach should be just fine after undergoing an appendectomy.
Urban Meyer had to postpone a speaking engagement at University of Findlay on Wednesday night, but the school announced it has been postponed after the Buckeyes head football coach had surgery to remove his appendix.
Meyer has experienced health scares during his coaching career, even retiring for one year to get his health back in order, but this shouldn’t keep the three-time national champion sidelined for too long. Ohio State said Meyer will be fine but could be held overnight, according to ESPN.
Although it could result in more plans being altered because Meyer was supposed to throw out the first pitch at the New York Yankees game on Friday, so if he is able to follow through with the plans, don’t expect him to unleash a fastball in the ceremony to honor the national champions.
Meyer was a former minor league shortstop in the Atlanta Braves organization after he was taken in the 1982 MLB Draft, so I bet his competitive juices will be flowing, but he’d be wise not to unleash the cannon he used to show when gunning down runners on the basebaths.
