Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson is transferring and will have a number of options but these are the best eight fits for the Fighting Irish quarterback.

It seemed inevitable since the Music City Bowl when Malik Zaire led Notre Dame to the win over LSU, but now it’s official as Everett Golson announced he is transferring and will play his final season of college football elsewhere.

More from Alabama Crimson Tide

“After much thought, prayer and discussion with my family, I have decided that it is in my best interest to graduate from Notre Dame and transfer to another school effectively immediately,” Golson tells Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman. “I would like to thank everyone at Notre Dame for the opportunity to compete at the highest level of college football, but most importantly to obtain my degree from one of the finest universities in the country. To all the Fighting Irish fans, I want to thank you for your support over the past four years and let you know I truly love Notre Dame. To my former teammates, who I will miss tremendously, I wish much success in the future and will be your biggest fan from afar.”

Golson started for the team as a redshirt freshman in 2012 and helped lead them to the BCS National Championship Game against Alabama and despite the blowout loss was one of the few bright spots that night. It looked like he would be the next great quarterback of the Irish with a bright future ahead of him, but missed the 2013 season because of academic reasons.

He would return to the team in 2014 and had a great start as Notre Dame started out 6-0 and Golson worked his way into the early Heisman discussion with 20 touchdowns in those games, but the wheels came off for Golson after losing to Florida State on the final play in their seventh game.

Golson committed 22 turnovers in the final 10 games and saw Malik Zaire take command of the offense in the bowl game and we had rumors of Golson transferring since the end of the bowl game until today.

So where is Golson going to finish his college career before what he hopes will be an opportunity at the NFL? Here are the logical fits he could consider.
