Former Illinois lineman alleges abuse of power by Tim Beckman, calls out Big Ten Network, NCAA
Former Illinois offensive lineman Simon Cvijanovic took to Twitter on Sunday to vent about how he was treated from head coach Tim Beckman who abused his power.
College football coaches hold all the power as the CEO of the program at their university. Some coaches like Urban Meyer and Nick Saban have more power and influence than others, but when that power goes to their heads, bad things can happen.
And that’s exactly what former Illinois offensive lineman Simon Cvijanovic is alleging. Cvijanovic took to his Twitter on Sunday to vent about what led to his decision to quit the football team and how Illini head coach Tim Beckman abused his power.
Cvijanovic calls out Beckman, the Big Ten Network, University of Illinois and the NCAA in a stream of tweets that seem to stem from Cvijanovic not being invited to a team banquet after he left the program.
Not uncommon for coaches to push players and they’ll often say pain is temporary and it’s all mental and other cliches.
Well, that’s something that should have come up in the hiring process.
Who else is suffering?
Physically attacked? Verbally attacked? I would like more details on this attack.
If you left the team, you’re no longer invited to team functions, right?
I didn’t want this to get out, but I decided to tweet this all out instead.
You’ve said so much already, so tell us who else was a victim of abuse and misuse of power by Beckman?
Northwestern tried.
I’d like some more details here too. Did he injure his knee and Illinois’ trainers and doctors told him he couldn’t have surgery? What happened here? I don’t think they would want a starting player to remain injured.
Here we go.
That’s a good point.
Again, if he left the team, does he still get to attend team functions? Is this the straw that broke the camel’s back here? He would have put up with the horror story of Beckman if he could go to a banquet?
There certainly has to be more to this story here and as soon as Beckman, Cvijanovic or a member of the university has a comment, we’ll be sure to update this story.
