After making the College Football Playoff last year, the Seminoles are given the fourth-best odds to win the title with Auburn, the team they beat in the BCS Championship Game two seasons ago. Auburn is breaking in a new quarterback in Jeremy Johnson and has a new defensive coordinator in Will Muschamp, but the Tigers are still second within their own state.
Alabama is receiving the second best odds at 7/1 but they’re trailing the team that ended their season in the College Football Playoff semifinals last year with the Ohio State Buckeyes getting 7/2 odds to repeat.
Updated CFP title odds, via BovadaLV:
Ohio State 7/2
Alabama 7/1
TCU 10/1
Auburn 12/1
Florida State 12/1
USC 18/1
Baylor 20/1
Notre Dame 20/1
Clemson 22/1
Oregon 22/1
Georgia 25/1
Michigan State 25/1
Oklahoma 25/1
LSU 28/1
UCLA 28/1
Stanford 33/1
That’s four schools from the SEC and Pac-12, three from the Big 12, two from the Big Ten and ACC and one Independent in Notre Dame.
The most surprising part about the teams at the top of the list are the lack of proven quarterbacks for these teams. Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Baylor, Notre Dame, Oregon, Georgia, Oklahoma, LSU, UCLA and Stanford all have major questions to answer which could derail their title hopes.
Meanwhile, Ohio State has an embarrassment of riches at the position with three quarterbacks capable of leading Ohio State to the title. TCU welcomes back fourth-place finisher in the Heisman, Trevone Boykin and USC gets Cody Kessler who one of the nation’s top passers last year.
