Voldemort – Nick Saban

Was this predictable? Yes. But was it also inevitable?

Yes.

Nick Saban can definitely be an unpleasant person to work with, that is true. He has publicly lost his temper, he has oversigned recruiting classes just to make sure he gets everyone he wants, and he also left one SEC school for another SEC school, a move that those in the SEC take very personally.

But the real reasons why he’s the Dark Lord are simple.

First, Saban is hated. Voldemort was hated by everyone for the despicable and horrendous acts he committed. Saban is hated because he is insanely successful at what he does. And when you’re at the top everyone is looking to pull you down. It comes with the territory of winning multiple SEC conference championships, and multiple national championships.

However, Saban is also feared. Voldemort was probably feared more than he was hated because he was such a powerful wizard and can use that power in terrible ways. Not a single team goes into a matchup against Alabama without feeling nervous. Not a single fan watches his or her team go into Tuscaloosa without feeling nervous. Alabama is also powerful, capable of completely dismantling a defense and an offense.

To be feared and to be hated. That is a recipe for anyone to turn into an instant villain. Saban at least gets to keep his nose.
