Minerva McGonagall – Bill Snyder

Professor McGonagall is one of the wisest educators at Hogwarts, and despite her strictness she is the favorite of many students. She loves her school fiercely, and fought magnificently to defend it against forces of evil.

Bill Snyder, head coach of Kansas State, is just as skilled in the art of football as McGonagall is in the art of transfiguration. He led the Wildcats to their first ever bowl game win, and then continued to bring the Wildcats to bowl games for the next ten consecutive seasons. He also coached an undefeated regular season in 1998, elevating the Wildcats to their first ever number 1 ranking. Synder’s incredible work at Kansas State caused the school to name its football stadium after him.

Perhaps what draws the strongest comparison between Snyder and McGonagall is their dedication to their respective schools. Hogwarts is both McGonagall’s workplace and home; it doesn’t seem like she will ever leave her students or her beloved Gryffindor house. Similarly, Snyder came back out of retirement to coach his Wildcats in 2009 and is still there now. Such loyalty is seldom seen in the world of college football today.
