Alabama added some beef to their recruiting class with the commitment from junior college offensive lineman Charles Baldwin who committed to the Tide on Friday night.

The 6-5, 315-pound offensive tackle is the nation’s No. 2 overall recruit from the junior college ranks and the No. 1 offensive tackle recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Baldwin picked the Crimson Tide over offers from the likes of Miami, Ole Miss, Georgia and Oklahoma, among others, but knew Alabama was the place for him to play his college football because of his relationship with offensive line coach Mario Cristobal

“I committed to Alabama. I really like (Crimson Tide) offensive line coach Mario Cristobal,” Baldwin told 247Sports. “I think he can get me to the next level. It’s all about family here.”

Cristobal has been instrumental in bringing some of the best high school and junior college offensive line talent to Tuscaloosa since he was hired, including two years ago when Alabama landed the greatest offensive line class of all-time. That class was headlined by left tackle Cam Robinson who started from Day 1 as a true freshman last year.

With today’s commitment from Baldwin, Alabama now has commitments from three other offensive lineman as Cristobal and Alabama have the makings of another elite offensive line group coming to Alabama next year.

Alabama has the nation’s No. 9 ranked class overall and the No. 4 class in the SEC, according to the 247Sports team rankings.
