Four-star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams decommits from Auburn
Once a key recruit, 2016 defensive tackle Quinnen Williams decommitted from Auburn Friday.
After what has been a very strong past couple recruiting weeks for the Auburn Tigers, some bad news on the recruiting front came Friday. Per a tweet from Keith Niebuhr of 247Sports.com, 2016 four-star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams (Birmingham, AL. Wenonah School)is no longer committed to Auburn.

Williams is ranked the No. 394 player in his class, the No. 34 overall defensive tackle in his class, and the No. 12 overall player in his class from the state of Alabama per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
He was recruited by associate head coach/defensive line coach Rodney Gardner and committed to the program January 31 during an unofficial visit. Prior to Friday’s decommitment, Williams visited the Auburn campus twice (March 9 and April 11) and attended an Alabama Crimson Tide camp on May 31.
The Crimson Tide did recruit Williams as defensive line coach Bo Davis served as the primary recruiter.
With the decommitment of Williams, Auburn’s recruiting class now sits at No. 25 in the country and No. 10 in the SEC per the 247Sports team rankings. The Tigers still boast a solid class at this time, one that includes the recent commitment of four-star quarterback Woody Barrett, who did so on Wednesday.
The fact that Williams visited the Crimson Tide at the end of May and attended their camp makes me wonder if he may in fact end up going to Alabama. The addition of Williams in Tuscaloosa would add more depth to a ’16 class that already boasts an exciting offensive tackle commitment in four-star recruit Jonah Williams and pairing Jonah Williams with Quinnen would make for a devastating Alabama defensive line beginning in 2016.
This is certainly disappointing for Auburn, but things like this happen in recruiting. You win some and you lose some and while the Tigers scored a major victory in Barrett, they suffered a minor defeat on Friday with the decommitment of Williams.
