Can the Cincinnati Bearcats stay healthy enough and replace enough starters to win the American Athletic Conference after capturing a share of it last year?

Given the fact that injuries took such a toll on the Cincinnati Bearcats last year in Tommy Tuberville’s second year as head coach, winning a share of the AAC Championship and putting together a 9-4 record was remarkable.

These guys were down to a walk-on quarterback at the end of the year.

What is even better news is that the injuries will likely help the Bearcats deal with the loss of so many starters on defense.

Tuberville’s third squad has a very legitimate chance to win the AAC, but it will come down to depth and staying healthy, in addition to the schedule. Last year, Cincinnati looked awful early, beating Miami (Ohio) only by a touchdown before getting blown out by Ohio State, Memphis, and Miami (Fla.).

But then they on seven straight games to finish the year 9-3, including impressive wins in shootouts against East Carolina and Houston.

And with returning quarterback Gunner Kiel to go along with so many starters who are lost on defense, another season filled with shootouts is something that you will be able to expect with this team.

Very much like another team, the Memphis Tigers, who will compete with them for the conference championship, the Bearcats return lots of starters on offense and lose lots on defense.

Will they have enough to win the conference? What is the limit for this team?
