The Washington Huskies added a talented quarterback to their program Wednesday in junior college quarterback Tony Rodriguez. He signed a financial aid agreement with the program, giving the Huskies additional quarterback competition.

Rodriguez played extremely well for City College of San Francisco last fall passing for 2,382 yards, 18 touchdowns and four interceptions to go along with three rushing touchdowns. His admirable numbers earned him offensive player of the year accolades as a member of the Region I all-California junior-college team.

He played his high school football at Brookside Christian in Stockton, CA., but his senior season was derailed by injury and that is why he continued his college football career on the JUCO level instead of going straight to a FBS program out of high school.

Because the timeframe for which players can sign a national letter of intent has passed, this is the reason why he comes to the program via financial aid agreement.

With two years of eligibility remaining, it will be interesting to see how he fits into the quarterback race. Currently, the Huskies carry four quarterbacks on their roster. Jake Browning (freshman), K.J. Carta-Samuels (redshirt freshman), Jeff Lindquist (junior), and Cyler Miles (junior) are the current quartet of signal-callers competing for reps.

For now, the Huskies have a plethora of quarterbacks eager to take the reins of the offense. That is a good sign for Husky fans and coaches as camp inches nearer.
