Auburn Tigers

Katy Perry-Roar

The same way the Alabama Crimson Tide are represented by the grittiness that came with T.I.’s trap music sound, the Auburn Tigers are a little more flashy with Gus Malzahn’s system, and it looks like going for the flash is how the program will succeed.

The flash mirrors the less gritty, pop sound in music, and Katy Perry is the perfect person for this. Performing “Roar” would be the perfect fit.

Let’s start with the obvious. In the chorus, she literally says, “I’ve got the eye of the tiger.” She then says “You’re going to hear me roar.” Auburn is the Tigers. Tigers roar. They send the message that they will be heard roaring.

But more than that, listen to the lyrics. She talks about getting up after being held down. We know that Auburn comes across as the team held down by Alabama since the Tide dominate the state in recruiting.

But the Tigers get up and still compete on their level. So Alabama will hear them roar, just as they did for six straight years in the 2000s and in 2013 with an epic finish.

For even better context, Cam Newton is the greatest college player to come out of either school and is a Panther now. He also roars.
