Macklemore and Ryan Lewis ft. Ray Dalton-Can’t Hold Us

The Boise State Broncos have spent the better part of the past 10 years frustrating the heck out of the college football establishment. They are supposed to be the mid-majors of college football, only going undefeated against smaller teams.

So when they meet teams like Oklahoma or Arizona in bowl games and win, it shoots down every argument you could have against them. They have not allowed the ceiling to hold them down.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have been very similar in the world of hip hop. The hip hop establishment can’t stand them because they are independent, they refuse to cave to the social conventions of hip hop, and they made more commercial sounding songs friendlier for pop radio than hip hop radio.

In short, they achieved success because of the people that liked their music, not any record company or establishment promoting them, and that was addressed in Can’t Hold Us. So the school and the artist are a match made in heaven when you put it all together.

And this song would be a perfect fit for a marching band. The hip hop community still resents Macklemore and Ryan Lewis as well.

And the college football establishment resents Boise State.
