North Carolina Tar Heels

Far East Movement ft. The Cataracs and DEV-Like a G6

No, the Far East Movement does not have any members from North Carolina. But who cares? This is the Tar Heel State, and this state is first in flight. After all, they have fought for years to take credit for the Wright Brothers, and they have won that fight for the most part.

So this song, which is relatively new, unique, and references planes, is perfect for the state institution in North Carolina. The Tar Heels also give a shoutout to Three 6 Mafia in the song, which is from the neighboring state of Tennessee, even if it is on the opposite corner of the state.

The beat alone is sick and could be played by everybody but the trumpets, who would play the hook that the group performs. Overall, UNC could change “Like a G6” to “Like a Tar Heel” and make the song say, “Now I’m feeling so fly like a Tar Heel!”

That would get all the fans hyped up, and since UNC is a very unique state school as it is, a very unique song from a hip hop group that does not strike you the same way other hip hop artists do makes for a great conversation.
