T10. Chad Voytik to Tyler Boyd – Pittsburgh Panthers
This is less about Chad Voytik and more about Tyler Boyd who is the best wide receiver to come through Pittsburgh since Larry Fitzgerald who finished second in the Heisman in 2003. Boyd’s 163 receptions in his first two years is two more than Fitzgerald had when he declared early for the NFL Draft.
The 6-2, 190-pounder reeled in 78 receptions as a sophomore for 1,261 yards and eight touchdowns after he had 85 receptions for 1,174 and seven scores as a freshman. Boyd can make a run at the 1,672 yards Fitzgerald had in his last year if Voytik takes a big leap in his second year as the starter.
Voytik completed 61.3 percent of his passes for 2,233 yards with 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He started strong and finished strong but he struggled in the middle as Pitt lost six of seven games after starting 3-0. He should be able to take advantage of teams daring him to run when they stack the box to try and slow down Heisman candidate James Conner in the run game. If Boyd is ever receiving man-to-man coverage, you may as well chalk that up to six.
