More Playoff Controversy Will Force Expansion in 2016
The playoffs are a good thing…that can’t be denied. Certainly it’s worlds better than the BCS and its insanity. Now, let’s make it better.
With only four teams, there are bound to be some unfair exclusions (see previous slide), and the public outcry will grow even louder this season. The Big 12 and their lack of a championship game, as well as the plight of the “Group of Five” conference’s inability to break the playoff barrier will cause some early reevaluation of the system.
Look for the announcement at the end of the season for the playoffs to be expanded to at least six teams, possibly even eight, and for the bowl rotation system to be tweaked a little as well.
