No. 8: Matt Leinart – USC Trojans

Draft Year/Round: 2006/1st Round (10th overall)
Drafted By: Arizona Cardinals

With a couple of national championships and a Heisman Trophy to his credit, Leinart was one of those guys who was looked at at being the guy who could lift a floundering NFL franchise up and change their fortunes, and in his first season with the Cardinals it seemed like the Arizona front office may have gotten it right.

But a series of injuries, some poor play and what ended up being perceived as the lack of a strong throwing arm brought an end to Leinart’s NFL career after seven seasons and four different teams. By 2013, the best he could do was to make the Buffalo Bills (who were desperate for a QB) practice squad.

He finished what was supposed to be a top NFL career with 15 touchdowns, 21 interceptions and a career 70.2 passer rating.
