Four-star cornerback C.J. Pollard committed to USC Thursday, giving the program a shutdown corner in the secondary.
The commitments have been aplenty this week and on Thursday, USC scored a major commitment from 2016 four-star cornerback C.J. Pollard (Gardena, CA. Junipero Serra.) He made the announcement at The Opening earlier in the day per a report from Ryan Bartow of 247Sports.
He will be trying to follow in the footsteps of his father Marvin who played for the program, and his mother who graduated from the University. Further, his high school has been a pipeline to USC with the likes of Adoree Jackson and Rasheem Green committing in the last two classes.

Pollard is the No. 241 player in the class of ’16, the No. 10 cornerback, and the No. 34 player in the state of California per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
He was recruited by wide receivers coach Tee Martin, who served as the primary recruiter, while defensive backs coach Keith Heyward served the role of secondary recruiter.
With this commitment, the ’16 recruiting class is shaping up nicely for USC. Pollard is the 10th four-star commitment in the class, one that ranks No. 7 nationally, and is tops in the Pac-12 per the 247Sports Team Rankings.
For Pollard, the atmosphere was one of the major reasons why he committed to the program.
‘USC is family,” Pollard told Bartow. “I know everyone there.”
Combine that with his desire to win a national championship and a strong likelihood they’ll be competing for one with back-to-back top-10 recruiting classes and it was easy to see why he wanted to call Los Angeles home.
“They are on the verge of winning a National Championship and I want to be part of that, he told Bartow. “I know a lot of guys already there, close friends and that’s where I feel most comfortable at.”
The Trojans have had tremendous success over the past couple of weeks and could be poised for a run at the top class in the country.
