Bret Bielema Stole the Show

This was the third SEC Media Days for the Arkansas head coach who improved from three wins in his first year to seven wins last year and is poised for a potential double-digit win season this year.

Bielema met the media on Wednesday and it was fitting he was the last speaker of the day because he was the headliner who commanded our attention as we hung on ever word he said.

From the opening minutes when he got choked up when he spoke about the three Hogs players accompanying him to media days to his custom Air Force 1’s to praising the other SEC head coaches and the work they’re doing at their programs, Bielema was a charismatic and engaging presence.

He spoke glowingly about what it means to be a part of the Arkansas program and why he doesn’t recruit players who don’t represent themselves to those high standards on Twitter, but he stole the show with this classic one-liner in reference to kneeling at the end of the Texas Bowl against Texas last year.

“It was a proud moment. Borderline erotic.”

Les Miles and Steve Spurrier are still the kings with the media, but Bielema is right behind them with his media presence and savvy.
